History and Significance
History
- Once Yamraj installed one Shiv Ling and one idol for Lord Surya in Yam Teerth and performed rigorous Tapas. The Shiv Ling came to be known as Yameshwar and the idol of Lord Surya came to be known as Yama Aditya.
Significance
- Bathing in Yama Teerth at Sankata Ghat and worshipping Yama Aditya is believed to liberate devotees from fear of premature death and the stern judgment of Yama.
