History and Significance
History
- According to the Kashi Khand, after the defeat of demon Durgasur, Goddess Durga stationed various Shaktis to guard Kashi, including Skandamata in the Jaitpura region. The temple stands near Ashwa Tirtha and has served as a revered local shrine for centuries.
Significance
- Skandamata is worshipped on the fifth night of Navratri as the mother of Lord Skanda (Kartikeya). Holding Lord Skanda in her lap, she bestows maternal affection, wisdom, and salvation upon her devotees. Worshipping her simultaneously yields blessings from both the Mother and Lord Skanda.
