- Hoysaleswara Temple construction was initiated around 1121 AD by Ketu Malla, a high official under Hoysala King Vishnuvardhana, and carved from soapstone over several decades. Despite facing medieval invasions that left parts unfinished, the complex preserved its detailed relief panels. In 2023, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

- Hoysaleswara Temple in Halebidu is a twin-temple complex dedicated to Hoysaleswara and Shantaleswara Shiva Lingas mounted on elevated star-shaped platforms. The outer walls display over 240 sculpted friezes depicting deities, warriors, mythical beasts, and floral bands with unmatched stone detail. Two massive monolithic Nandi pavilions guard the eastern shrine entrances.
