- The temple enshrines the head of Barbarika (grandson of Bhima), who sacrificed his head to Lord Krishna before the Mahabharata war and received the boon to be worshipped as Shyam Ji in Kali Yuga. The head was recovered at Khatu village and consecrated in 1720 AD under ruler Roopsingh Chauhan. The modern white marble structure was expanded under local trust management.
