Significance

  • Praised by Thirumangai Alvar in the Nalayira Divya Prabandham, this Divya Desam commemorates Lord Rama performing final rites for the vulture demigod Jatayu. The presiding deity holds Jatayu on his lap, and childless women perform special prayer vows with soaked pulses at Jatayu Theertham.
