- The Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangapatna was consecrated in 894 AD by Tirumalaya, a chieftain of the Western Ganga dynasty. The temple complex was subsequently expanded during the Hoysala, Vijayanagara, and Wodeyar dynastic periods. It served as a major center of Pancharanga Kshetrams along the Kaveri river.

- Ranganathaswamy Temple Srirangapatna is venerated as the Adi Ranga ('First Ranga'), the principal shrine among the five sacred island temples along the Kaveri River dedicated to Lord Ranganatha. The presiding deity is an imposing monolithic image of Lord Vishnu reclining on the serpent Adisesha. Located on an island formed by the Kaveri, it remains one of the most prominent Vaishnavite pilgrimage sites in Karnataka.
