  • Danteshwari Temple was established in the 14th century AD by Kakatiya King Annam Dev at the confluence of the Shankini and Dhankini rivers in Dantewada. Goddess Danteshwari served as the tutelary family deity (Kuldevi) of the Kakatiya rulers of Bastar. The stone and wooden complex reflects traditional Bastar tribal-Dravidian architecture.

Significance

  • Danteshwari Temple is venerated as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, where Goddess Sati's tooth ('Danta') is believed to have fallen.
