- Sree Bhadrakali Temple in Thanesar, Kurukshetra is an ancient shrine where the Pandavas are believed to have prayed and offered their horses before the Mahabharata war. Legend holds that Goddess Sati's right ankle (Gulpha) fell at this location. The temple complex was renovated in marble during modern times.
Significance
- Maa Bhadrakali Temple is the only recognized 51 Shakti Peetha located in Haryana, where Sati's right ankle fell. Following ancient tradition, devotees whose prayers are answered offer small terracotta or brass horses to the Goddess in gratitude. It is a major spiritual landmark in holy Kurukshetra.
