आदिदेव नमस्तुभ्यं प्रसीद मम भास्कर । दिवाकर नमस्तुभ्यं प्रभाकर नमोऽस्तु ते ॥ १ ॥
ādi-deva namas tubhyaṁ prasīda mama bhāskara | divākara namas tubhyaṁ prabhākara namo'stu te || 1 ||
"O Adi Deva, salutations to you — be pleased with me, O Bhaskara, the one who makes things shine. Salutations to you, O Divakara, maker of the day. And salutations to you, O Prabhakara, the lord of radiance."
The Ashtakam opens with a direct salutation to Surya as the Adi Deva — the first among gods — invoking him by his three great names: Bhaskara, Divakara, and Prabhakara.
Surya Ashtakam is a compact yet potent eight-verse hymn to Surya Deva — the lord of light, health, and cosmic order. Recited at dawn, it aligns the practitioner with solar energy, dispels lethargy, and invokes clarity and vitality. This path teaches correct chanting and its layered meaning.
